What can I do on the water?

Work as a team! Enjoy the beautiful cityscape of Vancouver! See eagles, seals and natural wildlife! Compete for fun with other new paddlers! Go swimming at English Bay! Learn the right paddle techniques! Experience a “huli”!

Choose your boat:

Click on the links below to check out which boat to chose.

1) Outrigger: An Outrigger Canoe consists of a team of 6 people with 5 paddlers and one steers person. The steersperson is responsible for your safety on the boat and is a trained member of our staff.

2) Dragon Boat: A dragon boat team consists of 20 paddlers and a steersperson. A coach boat accompanies your tour for safety and coaching technique. A group photographer or non- paddling party may take pictures from the coach boat at no charge.

How to register?

Use the online registration form. Click on the date you desire and it will guide you to write an email to book your time slot. Please book as soon as possible, to make sure that your timeslot is available. Information required upon booking: number of people, day, time, boat category. Please collect the fees of your group in advance. No refunds will be given.

Vancouver Ocean Sports is a community club that was created in 2004 for the growth and promotion of paddling sports in Vancouver. The ‘ Vancouver Paddling Adventure’ is run by our volunteer members to raise money for equipment and programs. This unique experience is used as a fundraiser for Vancouver Ocean Sports to keep the equipment up to date and to share the excitement of paddling with the community.

Do I need previous experience?

Anyone of varying abilities can come out and try outrigger canoeing. There is no prerequisite or paddling experience necessary. Swimming ability is an asset, but life jackets are mandatory and provided.
